Presenting Topic: Dangerous to dolphins: snorkels or propellers?
Graham moved from Shropshire, England to Dingle in 1990 to spend time with 'the' dolphin and enjoyed many 'once-in-a-lifetime' experiences in the first year or two of almost daily swimming with Fungie. He started Seventh Wave, which was both a wet-suit hire operation, a public exhibition centre about whales and dolphins and a place to hang out for the dolphin crowd and visitors. Cetacean contacts led him to faraway destinations such as Australia, the Canaries, the Caribbean and northern Norway. But he was back in Ireland in time for the appearance of Dusty, Dony and Venus from 2000 onwards and that was when irishdolphins.com started as a new vehicle for information networking.
Sadly Graham spends far too much time writing e-mails these days and probably not enough actually swimming. Middle age may have dampened his enthusiasm for struggling into cold wet neoprene but he does enjoy the increasing detachment and big picture view which it has also brought!
Graham earns his living by translating, editing and teaching. |
