A change of equipment today, a shorter boogie board. I am not the tallest of people and so was having difficulty with the board being so long. So, Nick altered my board, dramatically. He chopped off about 7 inches! The difference was amazing –
On arriving at the beach, OJ and I seemed a little unfocused, much to Nicks frustration. He was on look out and when he spotted the dolphin gave a huge whoop whoop, then jumped off the end of the pier and took off, it took OJ and I a few seconds to cop on to what was happening. Fungie blasted in to Nick, and then headed straight to the beach, I was just ankle deep when I looked around to see the dolphin swimming in a few feet of water, seemingly waiting for OJ and I to get in. When I did, he went ballistic!!!! He was all over me, swirling under me, lunging up beside me, sticking his head out of the water and looking right at me. Honest to God, I never got a chance to catch my breath. He was jumping over and over and over, Nick was along side, telling me not to stop, I was exhausted, but my adrenaline kept me going. Fungie popped up beside me and bonked me on the shoulder with his beak. I loved it! I have to say that it was one of the best swims I have had with him in ages. I was happy out in the water, and moving a lot better with my new and improved board.
