Duggie is a young male dolphin estimated at only 2m in length, similar to Dony in size and very much smaller than Fungie. The islanders' original and correct assumption in regard to his gender was challenged by representatives of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) after they went out to visit Duggie in the spring of 2007, on unknown grounds, and he has since been widely reported as female. Clear evidence to the contrary is provided by Ute Margreff in the picture opposite!
In 2007, the IWDG estimated Duggie's age at 5 to 6 years, and we have no reason to doubt that!
Note also the clear tooth-rake marks in this picture.
